the back story
In 2014 James Ryerse retired from playing professional hockey, and founded Ryzer Hockey with a simple, singular mission: to help young aspiring athletes find the right junior hockey programs to truly develop their skills, with the pursuit of Collegiate hockey.
We understood that the hockey journey doesn't stop at juniors. As our players grew, so did our vision. Ryzer rapidly expanded to guide players into the competitive world of NCAA / ACHA collegiate hockey. Today, our earliest athletes have graduated from college, and we’ve extended our services to help players transition into the professional ranks, and expanded to an agency option as well, for the higher level players to stay growing with us!
What started as a local passion project has grown into a full-service hockey advising / agency business. As of 2026, we are proud to have helped over 150 players advance into NCAA college hockey, over 220 into ACHA, and over 100 into the professional ranks worldwide!
Look, hockey is supposed to be fun, not a secondary source of family stress. But I see it all the time, families completely overwhelmed trying to navigate the youth-to-pro maze, and it is a maze.
When Katie and I started RyzerCo back in 2014, our goal was simple: give young athletes an honest opportunity to achieve their dreams. Our process hasn't changed, but our toolkit has. We’ve built a true one-stop-shop to give you the ultimate blueprint forward:
